Do you have a favorite book you’re reading right now?
Reading is the best way to relax and even six minutes can be enough to reduce the stress levels by more than two thirds according to research from Mindlab International at the Universtiy of Sussex. Stressful day at the office, or kids running amuck? It has been found that reading is better and faster than other methods to calm frazzled nerves such as listening to music, going for a walk or settling down with a cup of tea. “Psychologists believe this is because the human mind has to concentrate on reading and the distraction of being taken into a literary world eases the tensions in muscles and the heart”.
Losing yourself in a book is the ultimate relaxation, so enjoy, relax and curl up with a thinkThin bar!

Travel – is it all over for the year? thinkThin explores the concept of travel and what enrichment exploring brings to our lives.
For all of us who were fortunate enough to travel this summer, our lives will have changed in some way. Whether your trip was the dream of a lifetime or a nightmare of circumstance, we are affected by what we learned.
Travel is an activity intrinsic to human beings and personally I love it. It takes me out of my comfort zone and puts me on high alert to learn new things. And whether that is a language, a culture, a climate, a cuisine or how food is differently packaged, I feel my curiosity leading the way. One of the things I enjoyed this summer was watching Europeans stop to eat their food. Whether a homemade sandwich or something packaged from a store, Europeans tend to sit and give attention to what they are eating. I noticed very few people eating on the go – no one holding wrappers to mouth and munching while walking. I was struck by what a healthy attitude that is. The ritual of enjoying and focusing on food is an important path to good nutrition and being aware of what it is we put in our bodies.
So take a thinkThin bar with you to wherever your day leads you and when the time comes to eat it, take a moment to sit and enjoy it.

thinkThin takes a look at the 4th Quarter; the last push in the year when we finally achieve our goals that we set way back in January!
With vacations behind us, the cooling of summer and children returning to school, there comes the annual realization that – for this year to really count, we’d better give a huge push to achieve some of the goals we set out for ourselves in January! Labor Day weekend signifies the time for us to get organized; it is the bookend to Spring Cleaning where summer is packed away. It is also time to take a moment and realign. Staying refreshed and energized is one of the best gifts of summer that we can take into fall.
Simple relaxation, the pursuit of family outings, dinners with friends and conversations with our children give us so much pleasure through the summer, we should keep it going. We can’t let the existence of homework take it all away. So I am determined to keep those morning walks, family movie nights, and “school friend night” for my children where we discuss our daily activities over a simple meal. I am really going to try to see my own friends who I only seem to manage to connect with during the summer months.
It is also important to keep up my love and attention for fresh produce from farmer’s markets and to continue explore new recipes as we move into fall vegetables. Let’s keep the best days of summer going!
